The future of motion capture system

With rapid improvements in artificial intelligence (AI) and computer vision technologies, the accuracy of markerless systems has greatly improved, enabling precise tracking of joint angles, gait patterns, and other biomechanical parameters. While still Challenges remain in terms of accuracy, especially in complex movements or environments with obstructions, markerless motion analysis will likely play a growing role in rehabilitation, injury prevention, and performance analysis.

The goal of Open Access Pose Estimation project is to provide clinicians,  kinesiologists, physical and occupational therapists with free tools to use pose estimation protocols for research and clinical practice. The image on the right is a product of DeepLabCut.

Markerless motion capture technology is advancing rapidly, particularly in healthcare and rehabilitation. One of the key developments in 2024 is the use of deep learning to improve accuracy and ease of use.
